| Description |
We are measuring pulses of high frequency radio emission from a magnetar, a neutron star with one of the largest magnetic fields in the Galaxy. These observations will help us understand the structure of the magnetic field and the physics of how the bursts are generated. To do this we are using a new receiver which gives Parkes a much higher sensitivity at frequencies between 16 and 22 GHz.
