Description |
This dataset contains summary maps of surface water using MODIS satellite data from 2000 to 2015, and the Open Water Likelihood (OWL) algorithm produced for the Northern Australia Water Resource Assessment (NAWRA). Flooding can be catastrophic to agricultural production in terms of loss of stock, fodder, topsoil and damage to crops and infrastructure. Flooding is also critical to wetland ecosystems. The MODIS OWL summary maps are produced for the period of 2000 to 2015 to show: Maximum percentage OWL value, Percentage of wet-pixel observations, and Maximum inundation duration for each pixel within the three NAWRA catchments (Fitzroy, Darwin and Mitchell).
