Pulsars are strange objects. One of the strangest was recently discovered by the 500-m telescope in China. This pulsar switches off and on. When on the emission seems to change in unexpected ways. We are proposing to use the new receiver system at Parkes in simultaneous observations with other telescopes in Australia and China to try and understand why this pulsar is acting so strangely.
