Description The object of mass production of pearl oyster seed in the hatchery at Tuticorin Research
-Centre of Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI) is to ensure adequate supply of seed
needed by the culture industry and also to meet the demands of the future requirement of different
maritime states and other establishments. To ensure adequate supply of healthy seeds, experiments
were conducted to perfect the technique of transport of seed oysters. The paper highlights some
significant results which will facilitate transport of Pearl oyster seed over long distances.
