Description The protected bays and lagoons of the island
provide suitable sites for mariculture. Further
there are many potential candidates for mariculture
- food fishes, bait fishes, ornamental
fishes, holothurians, turtles and sea weeds.
Apart from the indigenous varieties of culturable
species, fry of fast growing fishes and prawns
can be transported from the mainland and
cultured. But so far no serious attempts have
been made to utilise the Mariculture potentials
of islands.
