Description The marine fish production in India during 1985-'86 has been estimated as 1.57 million tonnes registering a decline of about 3% from 1984-'85. Among the commercially important varieties of fish, oil sardine accounted for 8.2% of the total landings as against 10.2% during 1984-'85. Penaeid prawns constituted 8.4% as against 8.1 % in the previous year. Bombay duck formed 6.6% as compated to 7.7% in the previous year. The share of ribbon fish which was 3.2% in I984-'85 increased to 6.0% in the year under report.
