Description The report has done a value chain mapping of post rainy season Sorghum and measure the transactions costs involved, evaluated and identified marketing strategies for reducing these, analyzed the price spread, measured marketing efficiency using the Acharya formula, determined the farmer’s share in the consumer rupee in the value chain of post rainy Sorghum and recommends some marketing strategies which if taken up would improve marketing efficiency and enhance the market demand of post rainy sorghum. The method used for the analysis is survey method, which involved 120 farmers from 8 markets (Primary and Secondary) across the HOPE clusters in Maharashtra and 20 market functionaries including the commission agents, village middlemen/ processors, wholesalers/ traders, retailers, 5 from each category in each of the markets totaling to a total sample size of 160.the value chain analysis is based on the market survey conducted in the year 2010.
