Description The data set including research conducted to assess farmer’s choice and adoption of Rainwater Harvesting Technologies in Malawi. The research data employed Multi-stage sampling technique randomly sample 272 households from Balaka district in Malawi. The first stage involved purposive sampling of Balaka district under Machinga ADD. The district was chosen because MEET and PCI were implementing Rain Water Harvesting Tehnology (RWHT) project in the district called Sosola Soil and Water conservation Project Phase II funding and Njira. The water harvested aimed at promoting the growing of crops including groundnuts, sorghum, pigeon peas, etc. The second stage was the selection of two Extension Planning Areas (EPAs) in the targeted district (Bazale and Ulongwe) of sections and villages in each selected EPA by using a simple random sampling technique (SRS). Furthermore, SRS was employed by using Excel to select sampled households (farmers) from each section selected in the EPA. The list of households obtained from PCI was used to sample households (beneficiaries) from each targeted sections per EPA.
