Description This dataset includes the research work on the evaluation of sorghum mini-core accessions for biofuel traits. This raw sequence data obtained from Genotyping-By-Sequencing (GBS) was originally used for a publication Morris et al. (PNAS 2013:110-2 pp:453-458) by mapping the sequences to BTx623 sorghum reference genome v1.4. In the current study, we have used a new version of the BTx623 sorghum reference genome assembly, v3.01. The major objective of this study was to undertake Genome-Wide Association Study (GWAS) using SNPs derived from GBS data (using both sorghum reference genome assembly versions, viz., sbi v1.4 and sbi v3.01) for major traits associated with biofuel production such as lignin, cellulose, and hemicellulose. The GBS raw data was processed by using default parameters of the TASSEL-5.2 pipeline. From this study, a total of 78 significant marker-trait associations (using sbi v3.01) were identified for several target traits including lignin, cellulose, and hemicellulose.
