Description |
This study was conducted to dissect the genetic basis of stay-green Quantitative Trait Loci (QTL) and shoot fly resistance morphological QTLs on sorghum chromosome SBI-10 long arm (L) using high-density single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) genetic markers. A fine-mapping population of 1,894 F2 individuals was developed from a cross involving introgression lines- RSG04008-6 (stay-green, but shoot fly susceptible) × J2614-11 (moderately senescent, but shoot fly resistant). Based on genotyping and phenotyping data 182 selective recombinants were subjected to Genotyping by Sequencing (GBS). SNPs were derived from the sequencing data by aligning the reads to the Sorghum bicolor reference genome v1.4 and v3.1 which identified 32,836 and 29,507 SNPs respectively, from the aligned reads using the TASSEL GBS pipeline. SNPs with 0.05 minimum minor allele frequency (MAF) were retained. Finally, 1515(v1.4) and 1184(v3.1) SNPs were found within the target region on SBI-10L (chromosome 10; 45Mb-60Mb).
