Description The new data set of Virus biodiversity: Molecular information of the viral sequences (viroma) has been generated in representative potato samples collected in selected cultivated fields in Burundi. For this, the sequencing and assembly of small interfering RNAs (sRSA) was used, which is a modern diagnostic method developed by the CIP. sRSA is a generic diagnostic method that allows to detect all viruses (known and not yet discovered / new) in a single test, so it is considered a revolutionary diagnostic method. The information resulting from the project will make it possible to better understand the diversity of potato viruses, guarantee the control of established, emerging and exotic viral diseases that allow a rapid and reliable integral response to the risks faced by Africa due to global warming.
