Description We characterized a panel of 151 durum wheat Mediterranean landraces and 20 modern cultivars via a series of molecular markers associated with Vrn-1 and Ppd-1 genes. The molecular data were used estimate the effects of the observed alleles on the time needed to reach six different growth stages under field conditions. Field experiments were carried out over six years in Lleida, northeastern Spain.
