Description Pearl culture is an art concerned with biological production
of one of the finest gems, the pearl, nature's perfection
of beauty and splendour. It is produced by the pearl oyster, a
bivalve mollusc, living on an insignificant ground at the sea
bottom. Man has known this gem right from the period of
early human civilization and had adorned himself and his woman
with pearls and had offered them to his gods. The soft colour
and cool lustre of pearls produced by the oyster remain unmatched
by any of the gems processed by man.
