Description |
This small-sized flatfish occurs in shallow, marine and estuarine habitats in southern Africa. Juveniles are estuarine-dependent and estuaries in southern Africa are being negatively affected by pollution and other forms of environmental degradation. This species is not targeted by fisheries though it is likely present in demersal trawl bycatch. At this time, the species is considered Least Concern. Given the estuarine-dependent juvenile life stage and the degradation of its nursery habitats, this species should be monitored for changes in distribution and relative abundance. |
