Description Marine invertebrates in general, especially molluscs are able to ivithstand
fishing pressure, because of their high fecundity, reproductive
capacities and planktonic larval life. Wliere as there are cases of depletion
of stock due to over exploitation by commercialised fishing and indiscriminate
collection of rare species. Appropriate conservation measures
are to be taken for judicious exploitation of the existing reserve and to
impose precautionary measures to resist overexploitation of rare specimens
leading to extinction.
