Description Maharashtra and Gujarat states together have a coastal length of about 2,300 km which is about l/3rd of India's coastal line. As many as 500 marine fishing villages with almost same number of marine fish landing centers are located in this region. About 4 lakhs of fishermen population are dependent on fishing, wholly or partially, all along this coast.
