Summary, etc.
A simple, efficient and green method for the preparation of naphthooxazinones employing easily available reagents
2-naphthol, aldehydes, urea and silica sulphuric acid (SSA) as catalyst is reported. The microwave assisted multi component reaction (MCR) procedure provides multiple advantages inclusive of short reaction times, high yields, easy work-up, catalyst recovery and reusability which proves to be environmentally benign. Studies on the antibacterial properties of the synthesized heterocyclic compounds have been done through in vitro methods against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria.
