Description |
Successful and sustainable aquaculture of shrimps and prawns depend upon the provision of nutritionally adequate, environment- friendly and economically viable feeds (Paulraj, 1993). Feed is the major operational input in shrimp culture, and depending on the intensity of culture systems and the quality and quantity of feeds used, feed costs nonnally range from 50 to 70 percent of the operational expenditure, Feeds of different composition and particle size are essential for catering to the needs of hatchery production of seed, nursery production of post- larvae, for grow-out or fanning systems and specially formulated feeds are needed for inducing proper maturation of brood stock. |
