Description |
The Economics of Ecosystem Restoration (TEER) initiative was launched by FAO, the CGIAR Research program on Forests, Trees and Agroforestry (FTA) and other partner organizations , in order to constitute a global database that could serve as a reference point for decision-makers and restoration practitioners, for the ex-ante estimation of costs and benefits of future restoration projects in all major biomes and across a wide range of contexts worldwide, based on information from comparable projects on which data has been collected through a standardized framework. In that perspective, TEER partner organizations agreed to develop a template to collect detailed information in order to characterize as precisely as possible restoration projects, their context and baseline, their costs and benefits with the view to meet a twofold objective: • allow comparisons across projects operated in similar contexts in order to facilitate estimations of costs and benefits of future projects; • make the use of this template as easy as possible to project managers, taking into account the information available to them as well as resources and time constraints. |
