Catalytic electroreduction of nitrite ion in presence of thioglycollic acid in ammonium acetate buffer medium shows the posiibility of devising an analytical method for determination of nitrite at low concentration. A wide linear range of 0.9 µg/ml to 9µg/ml was obtained. The limit of quantification was 0.7µg/ml using differential pulse polarography. The method has successfully been applied for the analysis of nitrite content in marine waters and industrial wastes. |
