An experiment was undertaken to study the effect of irrigation and mulching on passion fruit (Passiflora edulis Sims.) variety Kaveri and Purple in the hilly terrace area of Manipur. Growth, fruit yield and quality of passion fruit could be improved with the application of irrigation during dry months (November to March) in Manipur. Although irrigation at 10 days interval gave higher growth, irrigation at 15 days interval recorded higher fruit yield in both the varieties. Grass mulch recorded significantly higher growth, yield and quality over poly mulch and no irrigation. Among the different treatments, Kaveri variety recorded significantly higher growth, yield and quality than Purple. Not Available |
