The method adopted for the analysis of data is quite different from the usual method of analysis of variance. In the analysis more stress is laid upon the economic gain which will result by the application of different factors. In agriculture experiments our main aim is to research for those factors which give most economic yield. In the analysis of variance we can test only quantitative increase and can say whether the increase is statistically significant or not. From the analysis carried out it is observed some time treatment effects are significant but the application of the factor does not provide attraction dividend over the cost fertilizer.
Some general observations regarding the response to main effects and interactions can be made.
At most of the centres the soils had been found to be deficient in nitrogen although on occasions the response to nitrogen had been on the average, of the order of 13.0 md/acre. The response to phosphate was found to range from extremely low to high. At one centre viz. Pura the response to phosphate was exceptionally good. The response to potash did not provide any encouraging results and its interaction with other factors was generally negative.
