lepidopteran predators Eublemma amabilis Moore and Pseudohypatopa (=Holcocera) pulverea Mery causes severe damage to the crop, for which two sprays of Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) has been recommended for their control. Periodical measurements of lac encrustation thickness of Bt sprayed, winter season kusmi lac crop on ber, Zizyphus mauritiana during 2006-07 and 2007-08 showed significant reduction in the thickness of lac encrustation to the tune of 16.6 and 25.5%, respectfully as compared to control, during initial growth stages (up to 120 days after inoculation). But no adverse effect was recorded in the later stages of lac crop, probably due to metabolic activity of the insect. Not Available |
