EFFICACY OF VARIOUS INSECTICIDES WAS EVALUATED THROUGH TWO FIELD TRIALS DURING RABI 1970-71 AND 1971-72 FOR THE CONTROL OF SORGHUM SHOOTFLY UNDER RAINFED CONDITIONS. IN THE FIRST TRIAL SOIL APPLICATION OF PHORATE 10 G WAS FOUND TO BE QUIET EFFECTIVE IN CONTROLLING SHOOTFLY. IN THE SECOND TRIAL , GERMINATION WAS ADVERSELY AFFECTED IN SEED TREATMENT WITH BIRLANE AND SEED FURROW TREATMENT WITH BIRLANE AND CARBOFURAN SEED TREATMENT. SEED FURROW TREATMENTS WITH THIODEMETON, PHORATE AND CARBOFURAN AND THE SEED TREATMENT . WITH CARBOFURAN ALL REDUCED THE DEAD HEART INJURY TO LESS THAN 40% AS COMPARED WITH 88.45% IN THE CONTROL. PHORATE RECORDED THE HIGHEST GRAIN YIELD IN BOTH THE YEARS. CARBOFURAN SEED TREATMENT GAVE HIGHEST FODDER AND GRAIN WEIGHT. Not Available |
