THE STUDY WAS CONDUCTED FOR THREE YEARS ( 1984-1986) IN RUNOFF PLOTS OF UNIFORM LENGTH OF 90 m , 10M AND 1.5% , FIXED WITH AUTOMATIC STAGE LEVEL RECORDERS AND COSHOCTON WHEEL SAMPLERS FOR MEASUREMENT OF RUNOFF AND SOIL LOSS . STRIPS OF MAIZE AND CLUSTERBEAN WERE MOST EFFECTIVE IN REDUCING IN RUNOFF ( 30.9%) AND SOIL LOSS ( 3.34 t/ha) AND PEAK DISCHARGE. REDUCTION IN RUNOFF DUE TO T WS 28,24, 18 AND 17% AND IN SOIL LOSS 68, 43, 35 AND 30% OVER T1, T2, T3 AND T4 RESPECTIVELY. MEAN MAXIMUM YIELD OF MAIZE ( 1837 kg/ha) WAS OBTAINED FROM MAIZE ACROSS THE SLOPE TREATMENT.
