An assessment of phytochemical composition and antimicrobial activity of methanol, ethanol, aqueous, benzene extracts of leaves of Cannabis sativa against clinical isolates of Klebsiella, E. coli, Staphylococcus, Pseudomonas was carried out. The antimicrobial activity of the extracts was determined by measuring the diameter of zone of inhibition (ZI) exhibited by the extracts. Terpenoids, tannins and reducing sugars are the major phytochemicals present in methanol, ethanol and benzene extracts of leaves of Cannabis sativa. Results from the present study have shown that Cannabis sativa has good antibacterial potential. Not Available |
