Tillage is the primary operation in agriculture and represents a considerable amount of energy utilized for crop production. It is estimated that 20 to 55% of the available tractor energy is wasted at the tire-soil interface. Minimum power consumption and improved operating efficiency can be obtained by ideal matching of tractor and implement. This can be achieved by measuring the draft force and drive wheel torque required by tillage implements. It is a prominent factor during selection of machinery and power source of tractor. The simultaneous measurement of draft force and drive wheel torque of tractor may enhance the performance of the tractor. Telemetry based embedded system can be developed for simultaneous measurement of draft
force, wheel slip and drive wheel axle torque of tractor. Based on the availability of the torque, wheel slip
and draft force required by tillage
