A total of 100 groundwater samples were collected in the pre-monsoon and post-monsoon seasons of
2016 from villages in and around Ankleshwar and Panoli industrial estates of Gujarat, India to study the
chemistry of ground water. The data obtained were subject to statistical analysis viz. univariate and
multivariate. The results indicate that the major hydrochemistry of the study area was NaCl. Cd was
beyond the desirable limit for irrigation purpose throughout the year. Correlation studies showed that
chlorides and sulphates of Na and Mg had good correlation with electrical conductivity in both the
seasons. Five dominant factors explained 63.71% and 58.68% of total variance in pre-monsoon and post-monsoon seasons, respectively. Cluster analysis revealed that cluster A had 42% of sampled sites in pre-monsoon season and 69% in post-monsoon season which were more affected compared to cluster B.
