The productivity of a diversified cropping system always tends to increase when it is integrated with agriculture based subsidiary enterprise. The higher returns with the farming system were not only due to higher productivity of the system but also due to lower cost of production and recycling of by-products from crop components. The present study elucidated that net returns of Rs 380308/ha with BC ratio of 1.08 can be obtained from integrated farming system (IFS) which were about three times more than the prevailing rice- wheat cropping system. There is increase in the value for labour absorption in IFS farm due to additional components brought into integration within the IFS farm. The IFS is feasible with respect to
socio- economic imperatives but actual adoption of integrated farming are limited and unevenly spread among farmers. Thus, in order to develop a nation, farmers should be properly made aware about the use and management of IFS and Government should emphasize on this alternative to rice- wheat cropping system to give a ray of hope to the farmers in Punjab who are the real victims of agrarian crisis in Punjab agriculture
