Description |

Oxalic acid is known to act as an accelerator of shellac during polymerisation by heat. It is used in lac processing industry for providing glaze while converting seedlac to shellac. It has been found that addition of oxalic acid during manufacture of shellac enhances its polymerisation reducing flow (fluidity) to zero within 30 months of storage whereas, oxalic acid free shellac registered a little above 50% reduction in flow value for the same period of storage.
