A field experiment was conducted in
Vertisol of Malaprabha command of Karnataka to
study the effect of integrated nutrient management
on maize-chickpea crop sequence. Significantly higher
maize grain yield (76.78 q/ha) and chickpea yield (20.97
q/ha) was observed in RDF plus biofertilizer
(Azospirillum+PSB @ 350 g/ha) with one row of sun
hemp between two rows of maize compared with rest
of the treatments. Recommended Dose Fertilizer +
Biofertilizer + Green manuring treatment recorded significantly higher maize equivalent yield (133.89 q/ha)
and B : C ratio (4.49) obtained compare to rest of the
treatments. Similarly, significantly higher B : C ratio
was obtained in 0.8 IW / CPE ratio (4.53) compare to
0.6 IW / CPE (4.13) and 0.4 IW / CPE ratio (3.82). The
treatments receiving organics in conjunction with inorganic fertilizers improved dehydrogenase activity
as compared to only inorganic fertilizer (RDF only).
