To meet the clientele requirement, there is need for developing user friendly soil maps which is simpler and easy to comprehend. As a case study, soil map of Andhra Pradesh with 238 soil map units as associations of soil families have been interpreted and regrouped into 15 soil management units (SMU) based on aforesaid soil parameters viz. soil texture, depth, clay content, drainage, presence of gravel and calcium carbonate and mineralogy. These 15 SMU require different management inputs and conservation needs. The brief description of these management units are described in an easily understandable format for various users of soil resource maps and soil survey reports.
