USUAL INTENSITY - DURATION FREQUENCY RELATIONSHIP(IDF) AND THREE OF THE STATISTICAL DISTRIBUTIONS VIZ GUMBEL , LOG PEARSON'S TYPE III AND LOG NORMAL WERE USED TO MODEL THE MAXIMUM RAINFALL INTENSITIES ON THE BASIS OF 22 YEARS OF AUTOMATIC RAINGAUGE DATA FROM 1962 TO 1983 AT CHANDIGARH. MAXIMUM RAINFALL INTENSITIES WERE MODELLED FOR 2,5, 10,15 20 AND 23 YEARS RETURN PERIODS FOR 5,10,15,30,60 MINUTES AND 3,6,12, 24 HOURS DURATION . K-S TEST REVEALED THE LOG NORMAL FOLLOWED BY IDF RELATIONSHIP TO RENDER THE BEST FIT TO THE OBSERVED DATA. Not Available |
