THE ANNUAL MAXIMUM DAILY RAINFALL DATA FOR 22 YEARS FROM ( 1958- 1979) FOR THE STATION AGRA HAS BEEN COLLECTED AND ANALYSED IN THIS PAPER. THE PROBABILITY ANALYSIS IS DONE USING THREE WIDELY USED PROBABILITY DISTRIBUTION FUNCTIONS i.e GUMBEL DISTRIBUTION. LOG NORMAL DISTRIBUTION AND LOG- PEARSON's TYPE III DISTRIBUTION. IT IS OBSERVED FROM THE FREQUENCY DISTRIBUTION CURVES THAT THE LOG NORMAL PROBABILITY DISTRIBUTION GIVES THE CLOSEST FIT TO THE OBSERVED DATA, THOUGH THE DIFFERENCE AMONG THE THREE IS NEGLIGIBLE.
