Sorghum is an important cereal crop grown in dryland regions of India. One of the reasons for low profitability of sorghum is the problems associated with marketing of grain. This paper looked into various marketing channels in existence in marketing of kharif and rabi sorghum grain, marketing costs and margins and marketing efficiency in Mahabubnagar district of Andhra Pradesh, which is one of the major sorghum growing regions. It was observed that significant price spreads exist which indicate the potential to enhance the farmers' income. A majority of farmers were found to be selling the produce in the regulated markets. However, farmers also reported problems such as lower prices, higher marketing costs and improper weighing which need to be taken care of. Further, proximity to the market is one of the factors influencing the farmers' decision to sell in the regulated markets.
