Coscinium fenestratum seeds with 23 % initial moisture content showed 40 % germination over a period of 4 months incubation. On pre-treatment with GA3 3,000 ppm, more than 90 % of fresh seeds germinated in a month. When fresh seeds were shade dried under laboratory conditions (28 ± 2 °C/60 % RH) for two days, moisture content was reduced to 10–12 % along with 80 % seed germination in a week. It was also observed that fresh seeds in polycarbonate bottles kept under laboratory conditions showed germination after 3–6 months of storage. Germination of C. fenestratum seeds can be controlled by phytohormones like GA3, IAA or ABA. When tested, GA3 and IAA excelled over ABA, in seeds with 11 % moisture content as well as in 6 month stored seeds.
