An investigation was undertaken to identify the effect of seed priming on seedling vigour in fresh and old seeds of bell pepper (var. California Wonder). It was observed that seed priming with GA3 (50 ppm) followed by PEG (−1.5 MPa) significantly affected germination and vigour. Old seeds responded to the priming treatments effectively than fresh seeds. There was an increase in germination in fresh seeds to the extent of 2.25% due to the treatment with GA3, whereas in old seeds it was 12.75% due to PEG treatment
