Coccinellid predator, Stethorus rani is an efficient predator of red spider mites, Tetranychus urticae in grapes. The biology, life table characteristics and predatory potential of S. rani on red spider mites were studied in the laboratory. The duration of development from egg to adult stage of the predator was 17.2 days. The mean pre-oviposition period was5.2 days with an average fecundity of 140.2 eggs. The longevity of adults was 53.6 days. The life table statistics of the predator included intrinsic rate of increase (rm) of 0.0902, gross reproductive rate (GRR) of 116.8, net reproductive rate (R0) of 99.89, generation time (GT) of22.15 days, finite rate of increase of 1.231 and doubling time of 3.337. Adult Stethorus consumed29.8 eggs, 51.6 larvae, 71.2 nymphs and 95.2 adult stage of the mites. The results indicated that S. rani possess significantly higher growth parameters, shortest doubling time and enormous predatory potential against red spider mites.
