Hyper parasitism is observed in different natural enemies. In the same way, egg parasitism is also observed in a common predator i.e., mantids. This particular study aimed to document the egg parasitoids occurring on Humbertiella similis, a common bark mantid in cashew plantations of Puttur region. Egg parasitism was observed in 7 out of 25 oothecae in field conditions and the per cent parasitism was 80-85. Two species viz., Podagrion keralensis and an undetermined Euplemid species were recorded as egg parasitoids of H. similis. The extent of parasitism, period of emergence of parasitoids and their longevity were observed and reported here. Not Available |
