ICAR CIFRI has developed modern cages and low cost floating Feed-CageGrow for promotion of cage farming in the country. ICAR -CIFRI has successfully reared indigenous species like Ompam bimaculatus ( Pabda), Labeo bata (Bata), Jayanti rohu (Rohu), Puntius sarana (Punti), Cyprinus carpio and Barbonymus gonionotus in cages in reservoir of eastern India. Pabda and Singhi initially raised in RAS system then transported to cage. It is found these are the very good candidate species for supplementing the cage culture. CIFRI is advising for farming Singhi and Pabda besides locally important species like Bata and thereby it will increases the profit of the Co-operative society.
