Indian Sundarban are one of the source of livelihood and household nutrition for the populace of Sundarbans. The canals can produce desirable quantity of fish if managed scientifically. Some major fish species observed in Sundarbans canal are - parse, moulora, pankal, cancila, pholui, tangra, lata, bele, chanda, tit puti , saral puti etc. ICAR-CIFRI also initiated Net partition or net barrier for effective management of the canal fisheries. By erection of nets partitions in a definite area with the use of locally available bamboo or wooden poles in canals can support sustainable fish production Conflict of interest between the agriculture and fisheries are major challenge in canal fisheries development which can be encountered through community mobilization process. Moreover, it is found that to rejuvenate and augmenting fish productions in canals, systematic net partition may be a noble option which will support the livelihood of local populace.
