Thirty-five crossbred (Bos itidicus x Bos taurus) calves of twenty weeks age (87 kg B.Wt) were randomly distributed in five equal groups. They were fed on a concentrate mixture with 100% (group 1), 50% (groups 2 and 4) and 0% (groups 3 and 5) cereal grain supplemented to a basal diet of wheat strsiw (groups 1, 2 and 3) and sorghum green fodder (groups 4 and 5). At thirty weeks age, three representative calves from each group were selected for the study of body composition. Animals of all the groups showed nonsignificant difference of dietary treatments on water, protein, fat and ash content in their body. It may thus be concluded that by reducing the level of cereal grain in the diet has got no adverse effect on body composition of animals. Not Available |
