The present experiment was executed using 24 diverse okra genotypes of unknown salt-tolerance potential with the objective to find out tolerant genotypes. Seeds were sown in tray filled with sand and irrigated with saline water (ECiw 6, 9, 12 dS m-1) and control (best available water) up to 30 days. Germination percentage, mean germination time, root and shoot length, fresh and dry weight, chlorophyll content, proline, and Na/K ratio were found to be affected due to salinity. Significant differences in mean germination time, shoot and root length, seedling fresh and dry weight and proline content in 30-day-old seedlings were observed among different okra genotypes. On the basis of these attributes, two okra genotypes, namely VRO-112 and No. 315 showed better salt-tolerance as compared to the other studied genotypes Not Available |
