Description Field experiments were conducted during wet season of 2002-2003 and 2003-2004 on an Aeric Endoaquept (pH 7.2) to evaluate the source, rate and time of application of zinc for yield and nutrition of rice ( Orzaya sativa L.). The Zn content in rice soil increased initially up to 229 stage of crop growth when Zn was applied as a single basal source being greater with chelated-Zn compared to ZnSO, application. The results further show that basal application of chelated-Zn (at 1.0 kg Zniha) significantly increased the yield of rice by 2.65, 13.40 and 6.90 % higher over that of split application of chelated-Zn (Zn at 0.5 kgka each one at basal and 229 stage) basal and split application of ZnSO, (20 kg Zn/ha) respectively.
