Description  The field experiment was initiated during 1979-80 at Ludhiana and during 1978-79 at Banswara to study the long-term effect of fertilizer of fertilizer use on crop productivity and soil fertility in maize (Zea mays L.)-wheat (Triticum aestivum L.emend. Fiori & paol.)cropping systems. On Ustkochrepts at Ludhiana, both maize and wheat showed declining trend in yields over years even with NPK application. Simi8lar trend was noticed on Chromusterts at Banswara. There was build-up of availabler Nan P in the soil with NPK fertilization and a general decline in status under unfertilized plots.
