Physiological studies on Agrocybe aegerita revealed that out of twelve solid media Walsman agar medium supported the maximum radial mycelial growth (77mm) followed by Malt extract medium (74 mm) and potato dextrose agar medium (71 mm). Czapek's Dox was the best (6.7 mg/ml) among all the nine liquid mediua tested. Optimum temperature and pH for mycelial gwoth were 25C and 9.0, respectively. Among fourteen carbon and seven nitrogen sources tested, the best growth was supported by alanine and methionine, respectively. Ammonium molydate at 2 ppm concentration supported the maximum mycelial growth (4.8 mg/ml) among four trace elements tested. Among the four growth rel=gulators, gibberellic acid supported the maximum (8.6mg/ml) mycelial growth at 20 ppm concentration. Wheat straw supported the fastest growth among all the eight substrates tested. In a cultivation trial biological efficiency of sixty per cent was obtained on wheat straw. Not Available |
