Wet bubble is a major disease in Agaricus bisporus. The symptoms, microscopic examination and pathogenicity tests of the fungus validate the pathogen as Hypomyces perniciosus. The nucleotide sequnce comparisons of 5.85 rRNA gene of the pathogen using BLAST, National Centre for Biotechnology Information (NCBI), USA databases showed distinct molecular identifies (90-91%) with other mushroom pathogens and have bee assigned new Gen accession number U 380317.
