65percent,20percentand20percentoftheannualrainfalloccursduringkharif,rabiandsummerseasonsrespectivelyandexhibitedahighertemporalvariability.
Theevapotranspirationestimationtooldevelopedindicatesthatthewatershedwaterbalanceisindeficit.Thecropping&irrigationchoicesarenotappropriateandneedtobealteredtoshiftthedeficitwaterbalance.
Theestimatedrunoffavailabletouseis5mmforanannualrainfallof584mm(2009-2017).Theutilizablegroundwateris30.8mm(70%of44mmrechargeestimated).Thismeansthetotalavailablewaterresourcecombiningthesoilmoisturestoreforkharif&rabi(300mm)andutilizablerunoffplusrechargeis336(=5+300+30.8).
Theaverageactualevapotranspirationestimatedinthewatershedbasedonthecurrentlanduseandirrigationpracticesforthekharifandrabiseasonsis544mm.Hencetheamountofwateruseforkharifandrabiseasonsmaybeestimatedas680mm(i.e125%ofAET).Thisdemandforthetwoseasonsismarginallyhigherby344mm,i.e.(680-336).TheAETinJune-Septmonthsismorethantherainfall.Hence,thereisslightlylessopportunitytoharvesttheexcesswaterthroughwatershedmanagementpracticesforutilizingduringrabiseason.
ThetotalnumberofwellspresentinKatarkiSub-watershedasperLRIdatais70.GWLgraphdepictsthegroundwaterlevelsduringtheyears2008-2009wasdeclinedwhereasgroundwaterlevelsin2010-2016wasincreasedandgraduallydecreasedin2017.
