68percent,15percentand17percentoftheannualrainfalloccursduringkharif,rabiandsummerseasonsrespectivelyandexhibitedahighertemporalvariability.
Theevapotranspirationestimationtooldevelopedindicatesthatthewatershedwaterbalanceisindeficit.Thecropping&irrigationchoicesarenotappropriateandneedtobealteredtoshiftthedeficitwaterbalance.
Theestimatedrunoffavailabletouseis27mmforanaverageannualrainfallof706mm(2009-2017).Theutilizablegroundwateris31mm(70%of44mmrechargeestimated).Thismeansthetotalavailablewaterresourcecombiningthesoilmoisturestoreforkharif&rabi(192mm)andutilizablerunoffplusrechargeis250(=192+31+27)
Theaverageactualevapotranspirationestimatedinthewatershedbasedonthecurrentlanduseandirrigationpracticesforthekharifandrabiseasonsis553mm.Hencetheamountofwateruseforkharifandrabiseasonsmaybeestimatedas691mm(i.e125%ofAET).Thisdemandforthetwoseasonsishigherby441mm,i.e.(691-250).TheAETinJune-Septmonthsis77%ofrainfall.Hence,thereisagoodopportunitytoharvesttheexcesswaterthroughwatershedmanagementpracticesforutilizingduringrabiseason.
ThetotalnumberofwellspresentinKerehalliSub-watershedasperLRIdataare186(168-Borewellsand18-Openwells).ThegroundwaterlevelwasfoundfromthedataobtainedfromKSNDMCfortheneareststationHonnahunsi.Deepestlevelwasfoundin2008.
