80%,14%and11%oftheannualrainfalloccursduringkharif,rabiandsummerseasonsrespectivelyandexhibitedahighertemporalvariability.
Theevapotranspirationestimationtooldevelopedindicatesthatthewatershedwaterbalanceisindeficit.Thecropping&irrigationchoicesarenotappropriateandneedtobealteredtoshiftthedeficitwaterbalance.
Theestimatedrunoffavailabletouseis9mmforanaverageannualrainfallof622mm(2009-2017).Theutilizablegroundwateris49.7mm(70%of71mmrechargeestimated).Thismeansthetotalavailablewaterresourcecombiningthesoilmoisturestoreforkharif&rabi(178mm)andutilizablerunoffplusrechargeis237(=178+9+50)
Theaverageactualevapotranspirationestimatedinthewatershedbasedonthecurrentlanduseandirrigationpracticesforthekharifandrabiseasonsis506mm.Hencetheamountofwateruseforkharifandrabiseasonsmaybeestimatedas632mm(i.e.125%ofAET).Thisdemandforthetwoseasonsishigherby395mm,i.e.(632-237).TheAETinJune-Septmonthsisonly58%ofrainfall.Hence,thereisagoodopportunitytoharvesttheexcesswaterthroughwatershedmanagementpracticesforutilizingduringrabiseason.
ThetotalnumberofwellspresentinNagalapurSub-watershedasperLRIdatais18Borewells.ThegroundwaterleveldataobtainedfromDept.ofMines&GeologyfortheneareststationSaidapur.Thegroundwaterlevelduringtheyears2008-2017wereslightlyvarying,whereasduringtheyear2014wasfoundconstant.
